Jeannie Fernsworth -
Co-Founder & Horticulturist /Botanist
Our resident garden superstar brings with her a wealth of fascinating educational information, exhilarating stories, and creative ideas. Jeannie is a graduate of the NY Botanical Garden School of Horticulture. She manages the grounds of DBCG and oversees our educational curriculum development. A member of the Rare Fruits Council, she is passionate about plants and sharing everything you'd like to know about them!
Shelly Zacks - Co-Founder & Early Childhood Educator
A leading visionary of the garden, Shelly shares over 20 years of experience of early childhood education to our program and empowers children and their parents with her wisdom. She is a strong believer that children who connect with nature at a young age will be motivated as adults to become earth stewards. Her commitment and passion for sharing the garden's mission with our community is a gift.
Christina Nicodemou -
Christina is a multi-dimensional leader with over 18 years of business development experience, as well as a talented graphic designer. She wears many hats at our garden and is passionate about empowering youth and promoting eco-consciousness. A supporter of child-led learning in nature and loving mother to two young children, Christina is proud to be the creator of the Nature Education Cooperative, a collaborative learning experience for homeschool families.
Veronica Green -Program Manager
Veronica is our garden angel and manages our robust program of classes, workshops, field trips and events. She facilitates our weekly Mother Nature & Me class and shares her good vibes with all the garden’s visitors during open hours. Veronica is the author of a children's book series called "Veggie Vero" which shares stories about compassion towards animals and veganism.
Bridget Langford - Volunteer & Membership Coordinator
As a founding contributor of the garden, Bridget has devoted her time as our leading manager of volunteers and members. A devoted activist of the Earth and a loving mother to her two boys, Bridget's commitment to the garden has been a key component in the garden's success.
Jake Hampu -
As our garden's builder and project manager, Jake leads the way on all our large design projects and handcrafts unique elements for our garden. He also teaches our monthly woodworking workshop for children ages 5-16. He is the founder of Unified Dream, a non-profit that captures the heart of humanity on film.
